Denali Park

Back on line again after a couple of days with no wifi. We left our friends Cliff & Lorane in Fairbanks this morning after a 2 day visit.  While we were there we visited the bowl making factory, and went up to Chena hot springs we saw 5 moose going up there, didn't go in as the sulpher was too strong it was a pretty drive though.  Cliff did an oil change on the van and topped up my air conditioner not that we need it up here it has been quite cool, Rita is finding it cold.  Thanks Cliff & Lorane we had a great visit and suppers were sooo good thanks again, and for the cards. Lorane is a great artist especially with wildlife.
We came into Denali Park this afternoon and got the last site, we took a tour of the dog teams and had an interesting talk on how the dogs are trained and how they use them in the park.  Took a ride up to Savage lake, this is as far as you are allowed to take your vehicle, tomorrow we will take a bus trip up to Eilson it is about 60 miles into the park hoping to see some wildlife. This evening we went to the Amphitheatre and heard a talk on living in the park over the winter and how the plants, trees and animals survive very interesting.

 The tripod at Nanena each year people try to guess when the ice will break up

They pay $2.50 per guess this is a 50/50 draw this year the winner received over $350,000.

not bad for a $2.50 try When the ice breaks up the tripod tips over and pulls a string that is connected to a clock this is the time the ice breaks up
